A Letter To The People: Brian Deneke:
Brian Deneke: A Son, Brother, Friend, Punk, and a Victim of Hatred

It was brought to my attention the other day that the pop-punk band Good Charlotte had a drummer before Aaron, who played on their self-titled album. Whether this is true or not (as far as I know, it is), the "first drummer" has a terrible story associate with his name. As I looked further into this drummer I never knew about, I found something very disturbing. This man, well, boy rather, was murdered on December 12, 1997. He was 19 years old. 19!!! Our drummer is only two years younger than that! Why, you ask? Well, here is the sad truth: Mr. Brian Deneke was murdered for being punk. So, he had a mohawk, maybe wore a "Crass" T-shirt every once in a while. Is that any reason for a young man to loose his life? No, it is not. Death is so wrong and to learn about the story of Brian sickened me. Mr. Deneke was loving and kind, while standing up for his beliefs and rocking out to some hardcore music. Pray for the Deneke family, for Brian has been gone for five years this last December. I feel like I've lost a brother and a friend though I never knew him. If you lost one of your own, you'd feel sick, too. Thank you. Please, remember Brian and stop violence and descrimination!
